Charles J. (Chuck) Berling Back

Chuck Berling has almost 40 years of "hands on" experience in the Commercial Real Estate arena. He has been in various key positions with responsibility for the planning, entitlement, financing, joint venturing, development, construction, marketing and leasing, management and disposition of over 25 major real estate projects located throughout the United States. His experience includes multiple real estate uses. The uses of his projects include Central Business District and Suburban Offices, Industrial including R&D and flex space, major Mixed Use projects, a Conference Center and hotel, NNN Single Tenant Retail buildings, Work Force Housing and single-family residential estates. In his career Chuck has had direct financial responsibility for over 12,000,000 square feet and $2,500,000,000 of projects in the US from Hawaii to the Northeast. Chuck is a licensed Colorado Real Estate Broker.

Prior to 1993 Mr. Berling held senior positions with the real estate subsidiaries of three publicly owned corporations:

BetaWest Properties, Inc. (USWest.) Corporate officer responsible for the acquisition, joint venture or ground up development of office, hospitality and mixed- use projects throughout the United States. In five years the company's portfolio grew from $10 million to $2.25 billion dollars.

Glacier Park Company (Burlington Northern Railroad) He created a development team and a brand new capability for properties in Minneapolis, MN and Spokane, WA.

Homart Development Company (Sears, Roebuck and Co). His team diversified their portfolio mix beyond the retail malls they traditionally developed and owned.
Prior to these companies Chuck was in the development and construction industry in Indiana.
Active in the community, Chuck serves on the board of directors for: United Western Bank in Denver; the Chinese Children Adoption International which is the #1 agency in the world placing Chinese orphans internationally while supporting several orphanages in China and is headquartered in Centennial, Colorado; and the Cherry Hills Community Church, Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Chuck is a 25-year member of The Urban Land Institute and has served on several of their Councils as well as six Advisory Panels, and is also a member of the University of Colorado Real Estate Center, where he has served on several advisory panels.
