W. Jack MacNeish, Jr. Back
Mr. MacNeish established the Philadelphia office of Bartram & Cochran in 1997 after a fifteen-year affiliation with the firm. His specialties include due diligence for low to moderate income apartments and military family housing privatizations, retail site selection and negotiations in the mid-Atlantic and Southeastern states, and adaptive reuse and consulting to public and private entities with distressed real estate situations. Mr. MacNeish has extensive experience as a real estate developer in addition to project workout experience.
Representative assignments include:
- Completed due diligence for MBIA on a CNL Commercial Finance portfolio of small businesses throughout the U.S.
- Provided guidance and team leadership to a medical technology company and its attorneys to reduce liability for a defaulted lease resulting from consolidated operations; orchestrated the outcome that reduced the liability to one-third of the potential amount
- Completed due diligence for MBIA on various military family housing privatizations, including Fort Hood in Texas and Naval Command in San Diego
- Reviewed six failing urban hospitals to determine the potential values of alternative uses if they were closed
Mr. MacNeishs past activities have created a national network of direct information sources focused on the many facets of real estate. Over the last 20 years, he has developed office, retail and industrial real estate nationwide, totaling over 2 million SF and over 500 acres of unimproved land. His varied experience encompasses direct management and leasing of 300,000 SF of office and industrial properties, rezoning of 200 acres of raw land into a master planned development, site selection and negotiations for a biotechnology company for a 100,000 SF laboratory facility, and advising parties involved in the bankruptcy process. Other notable achievements include providing an extensive real estate workout for Chase Banks REIT, and other financial institutions, managing projects in excess of $500 million, financial restructuring and debt-discounting negotiations for private real estate developers on debt over $65 million, and real estate equity advisory for placements of over $100 million.
Mr. MacNeish has an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business in Real Estate and a B.A. in Psychology from Brown University.
